The
Magpie, Sunbury-on-Thames This part of Thames Street, Sunbury, shows a mixture of early Georgian and late Victorian buildings. In the early 1900s the house in the foreground was also the village post office and next to it was a confectioners. The Magpie hotel built in 1820 was the birthplace of 'The Grand Order of Water Rats'. A magpie is an old English term for a 1/2 pint © Daphne Clement 2006 |
